St. Timothy’s School believes that the School’s varied faiths, ethnic origins, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures create a vibrant and internationally engaged community.  This tapestry of diverse experiences enriches the lives and learning of both students and adults. Girls come to understand the importance and excitement of different perspectives and realize they are part of a global community.  As they come to understand the heritage of others, students gain a greater appreciation of their own.  St. Timothy’s School believes the process of creating a healthy, diverse community requires our continued commitment, reflection, and action.

St. Timothy’s celebrates our Episcopal identity as the Diocesan School for Girls in Maryland.  Our Episcopal affiliation provides a moral compass for our community that is inclusive, welcoming, and respectful of people of all faiths.  Weekly chapel services and community outreach underscore the importance of spirituality and reflection.

St. Timothy’s School is dedicated to the education of girls.  We provide students with a uniquely empowering learning environment and an educational program which is and will continue to be designed and implemented specifically to prepare girls to thrive in a complex world.  This singular focus on girls is a critical part of the St. Timothy’s mission, educational program, and experience.

St. Timothy’s School invites applications from all those who live as girls and consistently identify as girls and who are prepared for a rigorous academic environment that challenges them to achieve at their highest potential.  The School accepts applications from those who were assigned female at birth, identify as girls, and who feel they belong in our community of girls.  St. Timothy’s School does not accept applications from boys.  Those assigned female at birth who identify as boys are not eligible for admission.  Individuals assigned female at birth who identify as non-binary are eligible for admissions, but the student must understand that St. Timothy’s School is a school dedicated to the education of girls -- this singular focus on girl’s education is a critical part of the St. Timothy’s experience.

Consistent with our commitment to educating and developing girls, we affirm the importance of using language specific to the girls enrolled at St. Timothy’s School. In all institutional communications, we will continue to use female pronouns and the language of sisterhood, both of which powerfully convey important components of our mission and identity.

If, after being accepted, a student no longer identifies as a girl, St. Timothy’s will continue to support that student as long as the student remains committed to our girl’s school mission.  If an enrolled student prefers another educational and social environment and decides to transfer, we will support and facilitate that choice as well.
